The walls of Portell de Morella

We are ready to take our tour of mediaeval Portell de Morella, with 5 stops located at various points of the walled enclosure. The walled enclosure is divided into 2 well-differentiated compounds: the upper one or Sobirà and the lower one, or Jussà in Valencian. Testimony to Portell’s importance in the Middle Ages are the remains of the walled enclosure that outlined the urban layout and that can still be seen in various towers and wall sections around the parish church of the Virgin of the Assumption.
